Ben Taub ’14 has been awarded the 2017 George Polk Award for Magazine Reporting. As a staff writer at The New Yorker, Taub has written about jihadi recruitment in Europe, war crimes in Syria, battlefield medicine, and human trafficking along the trans-Saharan migration routes. His George Polk Award honors his reporting on the humanitarian devastation caused by the shrinkage of Lake Chad in Africa and the underlining connection of the ecological disaster to famine and armed uprising.
At Princeton, Taub took four courses in the Ferris Seminars in Journalism, including “Investigative Journalism” with Joe Stephens and “International News” with Deborah Amos. He graduated with a B.A. in Philosophy.
