Journalism Revised Grading Policy

April 2, 2020

In view of the current public health emergency, and the movement of University courses online, the Program in Journalism has revised its grading policy for spring 2020.

For this semester only, in accordance with guidance from the Dean of Faculty, the Program in Journalism has extended the P/D/F option to students in all undergraduate JRN courses. Individual faculty also may choose to move their Journalism courses to the P/D/F-only grading option.

The University has indicated that it will regard a recorded grade of “P” for courses completed in spring 2020 as fulfilling all University general education requirements, prerequisites, departmentals, and requirements for certificate programs, including the certificate in Journalism.

The deadline for students to elect the P/D/F option for a graded course will be Dean’s Date, which is Tuesday, May 12, 2020.
