Audio Journalism: Crafting Radio Stories and Podcasts

Robert Anthony Smith

Back to "Fall 2016" courses

This course is a workshop on how to create the radio stories you hear on NPR and podcasts like This American Life and Planet Money. We’ll focus on journalism that is engaging and tells you something you didn’t know about the world. We’ll cover the basics of audio production; how to find the right stories and characters; the use of sound; the art of the interview; and how to write in conversational style. Each student will leave this course with enough knowledge and experience to produce his or her own audio stories or podcast.
