Courageous Conversations with Ken Burns: Foreign Policy and the Legacy of Vietnam

Former Ferris Professor of Journalism in Residence Evan Thomas will moderate a special panel event featuring renowned documentarian Ken Burns, Burns’s co-director Lynn Novick, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael Mullen, and decorated Army General Barry McCaffrey at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, September 12.

The panelists will reflect on their experiences making The Vietnam War, a ten-part documentary series scheduled to premiere on PBS on September 17, and provide commentary and historical context to exclusive clips from the film. A remote Q&A session with students at the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point will be held.
