On December 19th, 2016, while covering the opening of a photography exhibition in Ankara, Associated Press Reporter Burhan Ozbilici captured the assassination of the Russian ambassador to Turkey, Andrey Karlov, by an off-duty Turkish police officer. The daring photograph was named World Press Photo of the Year in 2017.
