Join the University Press Club and its academic and campus co-sponsors for the 2017 Louis R. Rukeyser ’54 Memorial Lecture featuring Jelani Cobb, staff writer at The New Yorker and Ira A. Lipman Professor of Journalism at Columbia University, on Tuesday, November 28, at 4:30 p.m.
Faculty and students in the Journalism program are also invited to a reception with Cobb before his lecture, starting at 3:00 p.m. in Campus Club.
Cobb will discuss the complex dynamics of race and justice in the United States, including his experiences reporting on events such as the unrest in Ferguson and the riots in Charlottesville, as well as the racial and political implications of the Trump era, the legacy of a black presidency, and the role of social activism in coming years.
