The Media and Social Issues: The Art (and Science) of Medical and Science Writing

Back to "Spring 2017" courses

Whether it’s the Ebola outbreak, global warming or the latest fitness craze, the modern news cycle is dominated by science and health reporting. As a result, it has never been more important for journalists to develop a basic understanding of science and health research.

This course will highlight the best science and medical writing, show how science crosses into every journalistic discipline, and give students basic skills and inspiration to write about science and health.

Guest speakers will include working science and medical writers from the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and other news organizations.
