This course teaches students how to report on the evolution and efficacy of global humanitarian assistance–how, why and what some countries give, whether it achieves its stated goals, whether it should change or end and what happens when it does-from its post-World War II roots to the present. Through reading, discussion and hearing from practitioners; policy-makers and working journalists, students will examine current trends and debates. They will learn research, reporting, interview and writing techniques and produce their own journalism to explain and inform those debates.
