Syrian Perspectives Film Screening: 4.1 Miles and From Damascus to Chicago

Attend a screening of two short documentaries, 4.1 Miles and From Damascus to Chicago, part of the Princeton Public Library’s Syrian Perspectives Series, on Thursday, September 14. The films will be followed by a moderated discussion with Deborah Amos, a Ferris Professor of Journalism and award-winning NPR News correspondent, and Tom Charles of Nassau Presbyterian Church’s refugee resettlement team. They will discuss the global refugee crisis as well as refugee resettlement locally and around the world.
4.1 Miles follows a day in the life of a captain in the Greek Coast Guard, who, despite limited resources, attempts to save thousands of migrants from drowning in the Aegean Sea. Running time: 24 minutes.
From Damascus to Chicago examines a Syrian family recently resettled in Chicago as they navigate a new city and country. Running time: 24 minutes.
