Audio Journalism: Storytelling for Radio and Podcasts

Stacey Vanek Smith

Back to "Spring 2019" courses

In this seminar students will learn how to report and write for radio and how to produce a podcast in the storytelling style of shows like RadioLab, This American Life, and Planet Money. They will research and pitch stories, find the right people to tell the story, form a reporting plan, and learn the fundamentals of writing and delivery. The course will feel a lot like the NPR newsroom and students will leave with a collection of audio pieces and the skills to produce their own podcast.

If the course fills, students may email Margo Bresnen, Journalism Program Manager, at mbresnen@princeton.edu to be put on a wait list. Please include a paragraph explaining your interest in the course.
If you have submitted an application for the JRN certificate but are unable to enroll in a seat for certificate students, email Margo Bresnen at mbresnen@princeton.edu.
