An introduction to political journalism focusing on the 2016 Presidential election. Students will explore coverage of the most important event of the electoral season, the contest for the 45th President of the United States. They will learn what reporters do and how they do it. They will follow media coverage of the campaign, the debates, the polls, the results, and the aftermath. They will analyze print, television, and online reporting. In a strictly nonpartisan seminar, students will gain the editorial skills needed to write or produce an accurate, balanced, and compelling 2016 story.
