Students in the journalism course “The Literature of Fact: Narrative Nonfiction” enjoyed a special class visit via phone call from renowned author John McPhee ’53 this spring. Journalism minor Lola Horowitz ’28 recounted the experience in a recent article for The Daily Princetonian.

Professor Eliza Griswold, director of the Program in Journalism, invited McPhee to talk with students in her course because “he’s the spiritual father of this program,” she said in an interview with The Daily Princetonian. McPhee, who is a senior fellow in the program, began teaching at Princeton in 1975 and inspired the iconic writing seminars “Creative Nonfiction” and “The Literature of Fact.”
